CUPRA was also present at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. In addition to presenting the new CUPRA Formentor Concept to the public, the Spanish sports brand also took advantage of the world showcase of the Swiss event to introduce an interesting limited edition of the first model marketed by brand. The CUPRA Ateca becomes more sporty and exclusive. The new CUPRA Ateca Special Edition comes on the scene to offer a distinctive exterior and interior image along with a setting that highlights the key qualities of the Spanish SUV. It is quickly recognizable since, in addition to elements of equipment, the brand has opted for different exclusive finishes that will be easily visible both outdoors and indoors. Antonino Labate, Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at CUPRA, confirmed that the brand will offer limited editions of its most relevant models, so CUPRA Ateca Special Edition is the first in a long list of launches: “One of the main values of CUPRA is exclusivity. As we did last year with CUPRA R, we want to offer a limited edition of our most successful models and amaze motor enthusiasts, those who delight in the design of the limited and exclusive versions. With the CUPRA Ateca Special Edition, we take customization to the next level with a handcrafted vehicle. “

The new CUPRA Ateca Special Edition features exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels with a copper-colored finish that show the Brembo brake system. On the rear there is an exhaust system signed by Akrapovic which reduces the weight of the vehicle by about 7 kilos. To this we must add new details of carbon fiber in the copper color, a shade also used in the letters CUPRA that are in the back cover. Regarding the interior of CUPRA Ateca Special Edition, there are also new features. Features a upholstery in Alcantara in the blue oil color that snow car cover the benches and panels of the doors. This new exclusive color of this limited edition is complemented by the black frames of the air vents and the center console. In addition, we can find carbon fiber frames and the color covers on the panel and the climate control. And as if that were not enough, there are also CUPRA Premium rugs. With regard to the mechanical part there are no news. Under the hood of the new CUPRA Ateca Special Edition follows the 2.0 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 300 hp and 400 Nm of maximum torque. It is coupled to a DSG dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, as well as a 4Drive all-wheel drive system. The commercialization of the new CUPRA Ateca Special Edition will begin at the end of 2019. Closer to the launch date, the brand will give the rest of the details, such as prices and the number of copies that will be offered for sale.

The new SEAT sports brand will present at the Geneva Motor Show 2019 a new concept. This is the new CUPRA Formentor, a sports SUV with which this new brand will celebrate its first anniversary. Although so far everyone thought that it would be called Terramar, in the end the Spanish manufacturer decided to call it Formentor, and in the Swiss automobile event that will happen next month will be presented as a prototype. CUPRA Formentor is the second model of this young brand, an SUV that will arrive to complete the offer so far formed only by CUPRA Ateca. In addition, it is the first fully independent model, as it is not based on any SEAT model, but was designed exclusively by CUPRA. If we take a look outside the new CUPRA Formentor, we realize that this is the same car that last year had leaked after an internal presentation of the Volkswagen Group. Outwardly it stands out for its sporty aspect, with a body that in no way resembles the rest of SUVs of the SEAT and that in that occasion presents itself in a specific color, frosted blue oil. The interior features leather-lined bucket seats with a carbon fiber backrest, a specially designed flat base sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, configurable digital instrumentation, 10-inch touch-screen infotainment system, and so on. Under the hood, the new Formentor hides a plug-in hybrid propulsion system, but for now the manufacturer has not confirmed which engines it combines. We only know that its total power will be 245 hp and that the hybrid system will be combined with a dual-clutch DSG transmission. Its autonomy in purely electric mode will be 50 kilometers according to the WLTP homologation cycle.

A few weeks ago, SEAT announced its new sub-dedicated to the high-performance versions and with the 2018 Geneva Motor Show coming around the corner, Cupra unveiled the first of its models, the CupraAteca , equipped with a turbocharged engine with 300 hp of power. But the new brand will also bring to the Swiss event a prototype of the Cupra Ibiza, as an advance of what we will later see materialized as a model that will be produced in series. The Cupra Ibiza features a series of exterior modifications that give it a more aggressive appearance, as well as a lowered suspension and new alloy wheels that can give a sporty touch to the set. In the front part are highlighted new LED headlights, a more aggressive design bumper that incorporates large air intakes, new fog lights, grille and splitter, as well as an airfoilover the back cover and a diffuser that houses the double exhaust pipes. The body is painted in gray, although it incorporates some details in the color copper, which seems to be the color that represents the new brand. The interior did not receive major modifications, since everything remained practically the same as the conventional versions of the Ibiza. It features a leather-trimmed sport-trimmed steering wheel and Alcantara, aluminum pedals and specific trim. For now there is no information on its mechanics, although we imagine that the Cupra Ibiza conceals under its hood the TSI 2.0-liter engine that develops 200 horsepower, a propeller that is also used by the most powerful version of the new Volkswagen Polo. When the current generation of Ibiza arrived on the market, the Spanish manufacturer assured that there would be a SEAT Ibiza Cupra and in part was true, since the most powerful version was reserved for the new Cupra sub.
